Liu was born in Nanchang，Jiangxi province. His Chinese painting studio is named “Attic of Rethinking”. He has developed his interest in Chinese painting since his childhood，and by 1930s he was a reputed figure already. His specialty is portrait painting and he shares a style with Qi Wang. In his earlier years he painted for Nanchang Lizexuan Ceramic Village，and later in the 1940s he started his own business in Nanchang，named “Mid-south Ceramic Village” and became an artist of tremendous achievement.
